Obligatory Technological Explanation

Thursday, September 2nd, 2004

You really, really don’t need to read this.

Today I upgraded my content management software from version 3.01D to version 3.1. This new version was released yesterday, 1 September.

What this means for me: instead of actually upgrading the software, I opted to install the new version clean and transfer my weblog information from the old version. I spent way too much time working on this, exhausting time I could have been using to study or read for my classes.

What this means for you: because the threaded comments “feature” was in reality a hack, I decided not to try that again. Therefore, threaded comments are gone, and all comments that used to be threaded on older entries are no longer threaded.

What this means for the Internet in general: the “early adopter” count just increased by one.

Excardon Me While I Destroy My Website

Operation Neverending Story production update! Day 114: Things are comeing along right on schedule. So far, we seem to have only hit one major snag. Um, and that is, I spent an hour this morning slowly googling towards an ever-increasingly apparent realization that, to achieve the simple functionality I desired on my website, I needed to burn every bridge between subtlecoolness.dyndns.org and the rest of the Internet.

I then spent ten minutes carefully and methodically burning the aforementioned bridges.

I would explain, but I’ll spare you, reader. I will merely suggest thinking before making rash decisions. Learn from my mistakes.

And guys, dilate your eyes. I understand it’s a hit with the ladies.

New Site Features

Friday, April 23rd, 2004

I did some site updates this morning, the most interesting being a short bio section about myself. I realized that the site was getting more hits recently, and some of my friends are checking it out for the first time, so I thought it appropriate that I should at least identify myself a bit better. To get to the “About William” section, there’s a link above in this entry, or you can click on the author name of any entry that I’ve posted.

May your bandwidth rise and your ping time be minimal.

[Update 2004-06-04 xx:xx] The “About William” page is gone for now.
